US President-elect Donald Trump does not want the situation with the Minsk agreements to repeat itself. This was stated on Tuesday, December 24, by the special envoy for Ukraine in the office of the next American head Keith Kellogg.

"We've seen peace processes in the past, such as the attempt by Russia and Ukraine in the Minsk negotiation process, which clearly failed. President [Trump] doesn't want something like that. <...> He wants a just, sustainable and secure world," he said in an interview with Fox Business television.

He added that Trump "recognizes the importance of the relationships that he has with allies." He expressed hope that the American president-elect will be able to achieve a settlement of the conflict.

Earlier, on December 22, Trump said that he was waiting for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to start negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The Republican added that if he were in the shoes of current US President Joe Biden, he would not have allowed such a crisis at all.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated the next day that there were no real impulses for a meeting between the Russian leader and the Republican.

The election of the 47th president of the United States took place on November 5. In the nationwide vote, Trump received 51% of the vote. The voting results were met with prolonged applause at Trump's campaign headquarters. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state is to end military conflicts in the world.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
