- Russia ranks third in the world in terms of the dynamics of space constellation development

Russia is in third place in the creation of a national space constellation. This was reported by Yury Borisov, director general of Roscosmos, in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel on December 24.
According to him, the constellation currently has about 288 satellites. In 2024, Roscosmos will launch 99 new satellites, not counting the Resurs-P satellite planned for the end of the year
"It (satellite constellation. - Ed.) is constantly changing, because a number of satellites are out of service, replenished. This is a serious increase, we are in third place in the world in terms of the dynamics of creation of the national space constellation," Borisov noted.
The head of Roscosmos added that the first satellites of the prospective satellite constellation "Marathon" are ready and will be launched in the first half of 2025.
In early July, Borisov said that Russia plans to switch to assembly line assembly of serial satellites in 2026. According to him, the transition to such a model of manufacturing these spacecraft will require spending about 60 billion rubles.
