There has been no progress in the investigation into the explosions at the Nord Stream pipelines. Perhaps the German government is hiding the real culprits. This was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Germany Sergei Nechaev in an interview with Izvestia on December 24.

He noted that the German government does not comment on the situation, referring to the fact that the General Prosecutor's Office is in charge of the investigation, but no information is received from there either.

"We proposed at various levels to conduct an international independent investigation with our participation and to understand, after all, who is guilty of this terrorist attack <...>. But here, unfortunately, so far restrained," Nechayev said.

According to the Russian ambassador, it is Germany that bears the greatest harm in Western countries from the undermining of Nord Streams.

"It is no secret that the Germans received 55 billion cubic meters of gas through the strings of Nord Stream-1. This significantly covered their needs, so 30-40%, and with the commissioning of two strings of "Nord Stream - 2" - it is another 55 billion," - specified Nechaev.

He emphasized that there are no advances in the investigation of undermining gas pipelines. In addition, the German government seeks to shift public attention to other problems, carefully hiding the real culprits and promoting the "Ukrainian version" of sabotage on the Nord Streams.

"A precedent is being set for impunity in carrying out a terrorist attack on such critical infrastructure. Such an example can be contagious <...>. We will insist that the perpetrators be found and punished accordingly," Nechayev concluded.

On November 30, it was reported that the German Prosecutor General's Office identified two suspects in the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 pipelines.

November 26, Polish radio reported that experts from the Military University of Technology in Warsaw found TNT in the analysis of a water sample from the site of the explosion of gas pipelines. In this regard, Poland asked Denmark and Sweden to disclose the results of the investigation. In turn, Die Welt newspaper wrote that at least six, not four explosive devices were used in the sabotage.

On November 20, Der Spiegel magazine published a number of details about the undermining of the Nord Streams. According to him, the sabotage was carried out by a group of Ukrainians, some of whom had connections with the CIA in the past, and the cost of the operation amounted to $300,000.

In September, the German government confirmed that several arrest warrants had been issued during the investigation into the JV bombings. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the country would make every effort to investigate and called for an unbiased investigation. The Kremlin agreed with the call, but Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the importance of sharing information instead of leaks.

Leaks at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
