The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon on Tuesday, December 24, began at the site of the Igora ski resort complex in the Leningrad Region.

The presidents greeted each other and followed to the hall where the talks started.

During the meeting, the leaders will discuss key aspects of further development of bilateral relations in a number of areas, including regional issues. The sides will also touch upon the topic of migration and discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

Putin and Rakhmon last met in November at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Astana. Before that, on September 7, Putin congratulated the Tajik president on the 33rd anniversary of the republic's independence. At the time, the Russian leader recalled that Russia and Tajikistan successfully cooperate within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the UN and other multilateral structures.
