Russian ambassador to Germany announced a broad plan of events in Germany for the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day

Russian foreign missions in Germany are planning a broad program of events for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany Sergei Nechaev told Izvestia on December 24.

"We will, of course, deploy widely our historical and memorial events. This is absolutely a priority task of the embassy, of all Russian foreign missions working in the FRG," he said.

In particular, there will be ceremonies of laying wreaths at the graves and at the central monuments. The "Immortal Regiment" is also planned in many cities. In addition, we are talking about a cultural and educational program with the participation of the Russian House of Science and Culture.

According to Nechaev, the events necessary for the 80th anniversary will be celebrated in a dignified and solemn manner in the FRG together with representatives of embassies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

At the same time, the diplomats count on the support of compatriots, most of whom take a responsible civic position, as well as non-governmental organizations.

500 thousand volunteers will be involved in the events of the anniversary, its logo is based on the image of the monument "Motherland Calls!"

Earlier, on December 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. The decision was made in honor of the participants of the special military operation and in memory of the exploits of all ancestors.

In July 2023, Putin signed a decree on preparing and holding the celebration in 2025 of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Later, the Russian leader called to celebrate the anniversary date brightly and solemnly, and the main task called the filling of all events with deep content. In the fall of this year, a jubilee medal for the important event was established and its logo was approved.
