The media reported about two names of shawarma fixed by GOST

The new GOST for shawarma allows its realization under the names "shawarma" and "shaverma", RBC reported on December 24 with reference to the draft of Rosstandart.

According to the document, shawarma can be prepared from beef or veal, lamb, lamb, goat, chicken, turkey or pork. The assortment will depend on the production conditions.

Also established is the possible composition of the dish - wheat tortillas, pita bread, pita, various sauces, spices and additional products.

In addition, GOST establishes norms for the content of toxic elements, the procedure for manufacturing and labeling of products.

Earlier in the day, the head of Roskachevo Maxim Protasov said that the GOST for shawarma will be finally approved and will come into force in 2025. According to him, the first version of the standard has been prepared, the text of which will soon be published for discussion.
