Perpetrator of terrorist attacks on railroads in Crimea sentenced to 22 years


In Rostov-on-Don, Pavel Levchenko, accused of explosions on the railroads in the Republic of Crimea, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. This was reported on December 24 in the official Telegram-channel of the Southern District Military Court.
"The defendant was found guilty, and he was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment with serving the first five years in prison, and the rest of the sentence - in a penal colony of strict regime with a fine of 1 million rubles," - said in the message of the court.
It is specified that the verdict came into legal force.
Levchenko was found guilty of high treason, training for terrorist activity, committing a terrorist act, as well as illegal manufacture, acquisition and sale of explosive devices.
According to the investigation, he, having established personal contact with an employee of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, agreed to assist the agency, to commit terrorist acts on the territory of Crimea.
Levchenko, following the instructions of the Ukrainian security services, made two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and used them to commit two explosions on railroads, the press service of the military court noted.
In addition, the defendant decided to make four more IEDs and determined the dates, method and objects of the upcoming attacks: the bombing of a fuel depot and several explosions of railroad tracks.
Earlier, on November 6, the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that the Ukrainian agent, who planned to blow up the railroad in the Voronezh region, was sentenced to 22.5 years. He was found guilty of preparation for a crime, attempted bombing of a transport infrastructure facility to undermine the defense capability of the Russian Federation, high treason and illegal acquisition and storage of explosives.
