Moscow Metro trains and stations decorated for the New Year

Moscow Metro stations and train cars were decorated on the eve of New Year holidays. As Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov noted on December 24, eight facades of metro stations and MCC were festively decorated.

"On the instructions of Sergei Sobyanin, we continue to decorate the Moscow Metro for the New Year. Festively decorated eight facades of metro stations and MCC, as well as installed installations "Two Hearts of the Capital" near nine lobbies", - he said.

At the moment, festive lights are installed on the facades of lobbies of eight stations - "Chistye Prudy", "Revolution Square", "Baumanskaya", "Arbatskaya", "Taganskaya", "Rizhskaya", "Kozhukhovskaya" and "Kutuzovskaya". This year the facade of Krasnopresnenskaya station was also decorated for the first time, and a festive arch appeared at Krasnye Vorota.

In addition, installations "Two Hearts of the Capital" were placed at the lobbies of "Park Kultury", "Chistye Prudy", "Ploshchad Revolutsii", "Prospekt Mira", "Belorusskaya", "Oktyabrskaya", "Ulitsa 1905 Gahoda", "Barrikadnaya" and "Trubnaya" stations.

Along with this, 23 themed trains were released on the routes, and at the entrance to the subway passengers are greeted by Father Frost and Snow Maiden. In addition, in the vestibule of "Kurskaya" station this year for the first time there will be a Santa Claus zone, where every child will be able to get a New Year's gift.

On December 12, Moscow Metro broke its own record in attendance. Its services were used by 8.3 million people on that day, which is 5.8% higher than in 2023. The most popular lines were: BKL, Koltsevaya, Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Zamoskvoretskaya.

As planned by the Moscow authorities, by 2030 90% of the transport fleet of the subway should consist of trains of new series. For these purposes the city will buy about 2 thousand modern cars. In the nearest future the rolling stock of the Zamoskvoretskaya line will be completely renewed. It will be completed with cars of series "Moscow-2024" and perspective trains "Moscow-2026".

"The model "Moscow-2024" is already the most comfortable train, which does not require cardinal modifications, today it is one of the best metro trains in the world both in price and convenience and safety for passengers", - commented Liksutov.
