Kovalchuk emphasized Russia's superiority in the nuclear energy market

Russia is the leader of the nuclear power market. This was stated to Izvestia on December 24 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center (NRC) Mikhail Kovalchuk.
"Today we are sort of masters of the market. We should realize that today the world is dynamic and rapidly changing," Kovalchuk noted.
Analyzing the nuclear energy market, he stressed that Russia taught other countries and now competes with them. According to him, the Russian Federation is moving forward in this sphere.
"We cannot catch up with anyone, we can only overtake. That is why we need new ideas, which we have in abundance, and a new base, which we also have now. Only then we will be interesting to our competitors," added Kovalchuk.
Earlier, on December 20, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said that the republic would block possible EU sanctions against the Russian nuclear power industry. He also called unacceptable sanctions that could jeopardize the nuclear program in Slovakia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the same day that Western restrictions on Russian oil production threaten the stability of international energy markets. According to him, this will affect the countries that make decisions on anti-Russian sanctions.
