More than half of Russians have experienced hair loss and baldness this winter

In winter, 60% of Russians have experienced increased hair loss, but only 30% of them are ready to seek help from a specialist, according to a study by Profi.ru, which was reviewed by Izvestia on December 25. Instead, many prefer folk remedies or even believe that affirmations and positive thinking will help slow down the process of hair loss.
Most Russians have difficulties with hair care in winter. Thus, 27% of respondents reported a significant increase in hair loss, and another 33% - a slight deterioration of the overall condition. Analysts noted that winter remains a difficult period for hair health, which makes Russians look for solutions to this problem.
Among those who noticed increased hair loss, only 40% expressed willingness to take some action to treat the condition, while 20% of Russians said they were not planning to do anything. Another 25% noted that they do not know yet whether they will do anything.
At the same time, as the study showed, if Russians face the problem of hair loss, their actions depend on personal preferences and trust in information sources. The most frequent step is to consult a specialist, which is chosen by 30%. Another 25% begin to use specialized shampoos and lotions, and 15% take vitamins or dietary supplements, 12% of Russians first consult with loved ones, and 10% study articles on forums and in the media. And 8% of respondents trust the experience of bloggers and Influencers when it comes to health.
Many Russians continue to rely on non-standard methods of treatment, according to the survey results. Thus, 22% use folk remedies such as masks and decoctions, and 15% believe that a change of mindset and a positive attitude can slow hair loss. Among more traditional approaches, vitamins and supplements (40%), specialized shampoos and lotions (42%) and scalp massage (35%) lead the way. Referral to specialists also remains a frequent choice, with 33% considering a visit to a trichologist and 26% considering cosmetic treatments such as mesotherapy or laser therapy.
Among the men surveyed, 58% are favorably disposed to the procedure of hair transplantation (transplantation). Of these, 28% consider it useful, and 12% plan to have a transplant in the future. However, 18% of men are afraid of the procedure, which prevents them from making a final decision. Negative attitude to transplantation was expressed by 14% of Russians: 8% of them consider it harmful, and 6% mentioned personal reasons that prevent such a decision. Another 25% of respondents have a neutral position or have not yet thought about it.
Earlier, on December 10, the expert doctor of the laboratory "Gemotest" Alexandra Fileva told "Izvestia" that frost can affect the condition of hair. Temperature difference causes vasospasm, which can disrupt the nutrition of hair follicles. This leads to weakening of hair, it may become dull, start to split and fall out more actively, Filyova concluded.
