A man died as a result of a car falling through the ice on Lake Baikal

A car with the driver fell through the ice on Lake Baikal in the Irkutsk region, the man died. This was reported on December 24 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

"The driver of the SUV, despite the prohibiting signs, drove onto the ice of the Mukhor Bay. The thickness of the ice did not exceed 10 cm", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department. As a result of the accident, the car was 600 meters from the shore, the driver died.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that the departure of cars on the ice is allowed only on officially open ice crossings.

Earlier, on December 11, two trucks fell through the ice in Transbaikalia. The drivers wanted to shorten their route on Lake Arakhlei. In 15 meters from the shore the trucks began to sink, the men managed to get out. EMERCOM rescuers tried to pull the trucks out with the help of heavy-duty equipment, but the trucks were firmly embedded in the ice hole.
