Santa Claus, who began his 69th trip around the world to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and give gifts, flew over Chukotka. This became known on December 24 from the data of the project of the Joint Air and Space Defense Command of the North American continent (NORAD).

Santa's sleigh in the air is pulled by nine reindeer, which are "fueled" by hay, carrots and oatmeal. The length of his wagons is 75 sugar sticks or 80 candy bars. The sled's top speed exceeds the speed of light.

The "NORAD follows Santa" project was launched back in 1955. On the eve of Catholic Christmas there was information about the fictional route of Santa Claus, who leaves the North Pole to deliver gifts to children around the world. His movements are being closely monitored by the U.S. and Canadian militaries.

Earlier, on December 18, in Rio de Janeiro, Santa Claus swapped his traditional sleigh for a jet ski to deliver gifts to disabled children. This event was prepared by firefighters and non-profit organizations.

On the eve of the press conference at the Izvestia International Center, Santa Claus and Snow Maiden told about the wishes of adults and children for the New Year. In particular, Snegurochka said that the most memorable letter this year was Ilya's wish to receive Finnish timber and cement for the New Year to build a bathhouse.
