Children whose cards the Speaker of the Federation Council (SF) Valentina Matvienko removed from the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" received their presents on Tuesday, December 24.

One of them was six-year-old Dima Zhitkov, who lives in St. Petersburg. The boy dreams of becoming a builder, likes to dance, play ball, collect constructors and mold from plasticine. In the summer at the dacha, the child likes to carve details from wood, and his relatives support this hobby. Dad and older brother help the boy to master.

"Dima, you sent your dream to the "Christmas Tree of Wishes" - what you would like Ded Moroz to give you for the New Year, and I helped Ded Moroz to bring you a new constructor," Matvienko said, talking to the boy and his mother via video link.

The SF Speaker praised Dima for his hobbies, noting that they are useful and developmental. During the call, a girl in a Snow Maiden costume entered the room where the boy was sitting with his mother and handed Dima a constructor - a space station.

Another boy who received a gift from Matvienko is Arseny Alekseevsky, who is 11 years old. The boy comes from the village of Korenevo in Kursk Region, but in August, due to constant shelling, his family moved first to Kursk and then to a temporary accommodation center at the Okhtinsky College in St. Petersburg. During their stay in the city, Arseny and other Kursk children visited museums, exhibitions and various sporting events. The boy likes it in St. Petersburg, most of all he remembered the excursions to the oceanarium and the museum "Grand Layout Russia".

Arseny dreamed of a "smart" watch with headphones, and received just such a gift from Matvienko. The boy's friends received tablets, which will be useful to them for distance learning.

Earlier, on December 17, Matvienko opened the annual event "Christmas Tree of Wishes" in the SF together with First Deputy Chairmen of the SF Vladimir Yakushev and Andrei Yatskin, Deputy Chairmen of the SF Konstantin Kosachev and Inna Svyatenko. The Speaker took Dima and Arseny's wishes off the Christmas tree, assuring that after the liberation of Kursk region every school, street and settlement would be restored there. It is important that Arseniy himself asked for a present not only for himself, but also for his five friends.
