Russia's orbital constellation will be smaller than that of the United States, and other technological solutions will be used. This statement was made on December 24 by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov during the open dialog "100 questions about the future of Russia" at the National Center "Russia".

"In terms of the number of satellites, we plan to go not extensively, but intensively <...> The grouping will be smaller significantly than that of our colleagues from the United States, but it will fulfill the same tasks in terms of functionality," he noted.

Manturov specified that the Russian side takes into account the use of several other technological solutions that give the same results in covering both Russian and foreign territory for communication.

Back in early July, Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov said that Russia plans to switch to assembly line assembly of serial satellites in 2026. According to him, the transition to this model of manufacturing these spacecraft will require spending about 60 billion rubles.
