The AFU lost more than 200 soldiers in the border area of Kursk region over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost more than 200 militants during the fighting in the Kursk region over the course of the day. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 24.

"Over the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 200 servicemen, an armored personnel carrier, an armored combat vehicle, an electronic warfare station and five vehicles were destroyed," the ministry said.

During the total time of fighting in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian army lost more than 43,500 fighters, 194 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), 253 tanks, 1,316 armored combat vehicles (ACVs), 136 armored personnel carriers (APCs), 324 artillery pieces and 1,179 vehicles.

In addition, the Russian military groups of troops "North" defeated 14 brigades of the AFU in the areas of a number of settlements in the border districts of the Kursk region. Four Ukrainian counterattacks were repulsed.

On December 23, Crimean paratroopers of the "North" troop group told Izvestia how they are working to liberate the Kursk border area from the AFU. The soldiers are delivered to the place of assault by a paratrooper combat vehicle (BMD). The vehicle also helps the military directly during the assault: the crew provides fire support for the infantry from a closed firing position.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the army aviation Mi-35M helicopter, working in a mixed tactical group, hit AFU personnel and military equipment in the border area of the Kursk region. The pilots conducted missile launches according to the coordinates received from the gunner, and then at extremely low altitude performed maneuvers with firing of heat traps. All targets were successfully destroyed.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
