Dentist named harmful sweets in New Year's gifts for children
Some sweets in New Year's gifts for children are especially harmful to teeth. This was reported by Ludmila Shemyakina, therapeutic dentist, pediatric dentist of SM-Stomatology.
The most dangerous for tooth enamel expert called sticky and long dissolving candies: caramel, taffy, lollipops.
"Such sweets stick to the teeth and stay in the oral cavity longer, which creates favorable conditions for the development of caries. Therefore, dentists do not recommend including them in New Year gifts for children," she shared in conversation with "Gazeta.Ru".
The dentist also noted that milk chocolate has a negative effect on teeth. According to her, the product contains a large amount of sugar and additives. She called bitter chocolate, natural marmalade and marshmallow safer when consumed in moderation.
Shemyakina emphasized that sweets are harmful to the body as a whole. According to her, they should not replace a full meal. She advised to limit the consumption of sweets to once a day, as well as to brush teeth afterwards or at least rinse the mouth with water.
Earlier, on December 20, acting dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the State University of Education, biologist Irina Lyalina, in a conversation with Izvestia, called gingerbread, which uses honey, spices (ginger, cloves, cinnamon) and natural glaze, useful. She also called the sweets a quick source of energy thanks to sugar, which is "especially relevant in the cold season."
However, using low-quality dyes to decorate gingerbread can be harmful to children and can cause allergies or other negative reactions.
