The state prosecution requested a 6.5-year sentence for TV host Tatyana Lazareva (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring) in the case of justification of terrorism. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on December 24.

The case is being considered in the 2nd Western District Military Court in absentia.

The lawyer of the TV presenter said that Lazareva does not admit guilt. Both witnesses in the case did not appear at the trial.

The case against Lazareva on public calls for terrorist activity (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated on June 17. On July 10, Zamoskvoretsky district court of the capital arrested her in absentia. The former TV presenter was put on international wanted list on October 11.

In July 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice included the TV presenter in the register of individuals-foreign agents. Rosfinmonitoring added Lazareva to the list of terrorists and extremists on June 19.
