Former Deputy Education Minister Gribov appeals against arrest in embezzlement case


Former Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Denis Gribov has appealed against his arrest, he is accused of embezzlement of 54 million rubles. This follows from the case card on the website of Moscow City Court, which "Izvestia" got acquainted with on December 24.
The complaint was received by the court on December 23.
Gribov was detained at one of the capital's airports on December 21. According to the investigation, he and his accomplices stole 54 million rubles from budget funds. Law enforcement agencies also detained three other participants in the crime, they were charged.
The same day he was arrested. The former deputy minister is charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on a large scale").
Gribov held the post of Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation from March 2020 to August 2024. Prior to that, he held the positions of deputy head of department of the Financial University and advisor to the head of Rosobrnadzor.
