Since January 2024, almost 4.4 thousand civilians have been injured in attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the territory of the Russian Federation. This was reported on December 24 by Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"At least 5,183 civilians have suffered since the beginning of the year [from the AFU attacks]: 4398, including 285 minors, have been wounded, 785 people have been killed. Among those killed are 50 children," Miroshnik told TASS.
He added that since January this year, Ukrainian militants have shelled Russian subjects with almost 82.7 thousand different shells.
On the eve, December 23, in the office of the ombudsman for human rights in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) Darya Morozova reported that over the past week on the territory of the DNR from the strikes of the AFU killed 14 civilians, another 21 suffered.
In the village of Kirillovka, Bryansk region, a woman was killed in an AFU attack on December 22. In addition, in the village of Krasny Bor another person was injured by Ukrainian fighters.
The armed forces of Ukraine are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
