Russian sentenced to 16 years for sabotage in Chelyabinsk region


Chelyabinsk district court sentenced a Russian to 16 years in prison for treason (Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sabotage (Part 1 of Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This was reported in the press service of the FSS of Russia in the region on December 24.
Law enforcers found that the perpetrator joined a terrorist organization, created and coordinated by the main intelligence directorate of the Defense Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine, and cooperated with a representative of a foreign state on a confidential basis.
On the assignment of the foreign intelligence service, he committed sabotage on one of the objects of the transportation infrastructure of the Chelyabinsk region.
"The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 16 years of imprisonment with serving the first five years in prison and the rest of the sentence in a strict regime penal colony. A fine of 250 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for one year and six months with deprivation of the military rank of "senior lieutenant of the reserve" and the special rank of "retired police major" were also imposed," reads the FSB report.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
Earlier, on December 21, a resident of the Orenburg region was sentenced to 19 years in prison for treason. He passed personal data of the Russian army military personnel to representatives of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
