The Russian authorities are considering imposing restrictions on voice calls in messengers due to an increase in the activity of fraudsters. This was reported by "Kommersant" on December 24.

It is specified that about 40% of calls in messengers are fraudulent and 70% of them come from abroad.

"Two scenarios are being considered: blocking voice traffic only from abroad and a complete ban on voice calls in messengers", - stated in the newspaper's publication.

However, as Kommersant notes, these measures can only be implemented at the level of Roskomnadzor.

Earlier, on December 21, the leading analyst of the Digital Risk Protection department of F.A.S.S.T. Company. Evgeny Egorov said that fraudsters began to steal Telegram accounts by sending false job offers on behalf of well-known companies. According to him, this scheme, as in most other cases, is aimed at stealing money.

In addition to stealing money from accounts, attackers can distribute malicious software, attract traffic to phishing resources or collect a database for sale, the expert warned.
