The Spanish edition of El Español reported on December 24 about the wrecked vessel from the Russian Federation between Spain and Algeria. Two people were missing, 14 were rescued.

"The Russian merchant ship Ursa Major wrecked in international waters between Aguilas (Spain. - Ed.) and the city of Oran (Algeria. - Ed.) this Monday after an explosion in the engine room," the material said.

The rescue operation involved several ships in the same area, later joined by special services.

According to the Spanish edition, the ship left St. Petersburg 12 days ago and was on its way to Vladivostok, where it was due to arrive on January 12.

The day before, December 23, a 100-meter container ship overturned in the port of Istanbul. Fifteen people were evacuated from the vessel. The risk of sea pollution was controlled by surrounding the vessel with a floating barrier.
