The salaries of foreign servicemen who take part in combat operations on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are seven times higher than those paid to mobilized Ukrainians. This was stated by captured AFU fighter Pavlo Saliy on 24 December.

The junior lieutenant said that he learned about the difference in salaries during his training at the training center in the locality of Starichi, where in addition to Ukrainians, foreign mercenaries were prepared for combat operations.

"Their salary is $3.5 thousand per month, while the salary of a serviceman in Ukraine starts from 20 thousand hryvnia (about $475. - Ed.) per month," Salii told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, on December 16, the acting head of the Russian delegation to the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, Yulia Zhdanova, told Izvestia that about 6,500 foreign mercenaries of the AFU had been liquidated in the zone of the special military operation.

Before that, on November 6, it was reported that the Western countries have trained more than 100 thousand military of the AFU since 2022. For the training of Ukrainian soldiers in the West was introduced simplified documentation. Within its framework, the partner states of Ukraine studied the needs of the AFU and sent invitations.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
