Shop manager detained in Abakan after explosion at the plant and death of people

The head of the assembly shop of LLC "Lesmash Corporation" was detained after an explosion on the territory of the former experimental mechanical plant. This was reported on December 24 in the main investigative Directorate (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk region and the Republic of Khakassia.

"In Abakan within the framework of the investigation of the criminal case on death and injury of workers of the enterprise detained the head of the assembly shop of LLC "Corporation Lesmash", - stated in the message of the Department in its Telegram-channel.

According to the investigation, in the assembly shop of LLC "Corporation Lesmash" on the street of Pashykh Kommunarov in Abakan employees were grinding work during the welding of a water tank. At that moment the compressed air that was inside the tank exploded.

The regional IC pointed out that the head of the assembly shop and other as yet unknown persons violated safety and labor protection requirements, which killed two people, and four were injured and hospitalized.

Investigative actions are being carried out with the head of the workshop, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is being resolved. In addition, the investigators examined the scene, seized various necessary documents and items needed to clarify the circumstances of the explosion.

The day before, December 23, the head of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov reported about the explosion at the former factory in Abakan. He noted that the emergency occurred due to safety violations. The head of the republic said that investigators and law enforcement agencies are establishing the circumstances of the explosion, and the families of the victims will provide assistance.

Deputy head of the Republic of Khakassia Yuri Kurlaev said the same day that four victims of the explosion are in serious condition. He added that he was at the scene on Konovalov's instructions, the situation is under control.

At the same time, the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under part 3 of article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction or other works"). It is specified that the dead and injured were men aged from 28 to 51 years old.
