Servicemen of the "North" group of troops evacuated civilians from a recently liberated settlement in Sujan district during the performance of tasks in the border area of Kursk region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 24.

According to civilians, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), during their retreat hit residential houses with artillery and kamikaze drones.

In addition, locals reported that Ukrainian armed forces personnel were beating civilians all the time.

"There was a young one here, he was 20 years old. He shouted to me: "I'm going to shoot you now". They shot at the windows, then threw grenades and burned houses," recalls a civilian.

During the evacuation people took with them only the bare necessities in the hope that they would later return to their native village.

Earlier, on December 10, Izvestia spoke to the chief of the guard of the Rylsk fire station and the head of the district defense squad Alexander Koverznev, who said that the wide involvement of volunteers in the current events was a feature of the fighting in the Kursk region. Significant assistance to both civilians and the military is provided by territorial defense detachments.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
