The expert told about the etiquette of gift-giving on New Year's Eve

On the eve of the New Year and Christmas, Albina Kholgova, president of the National Association of Experts in Business Ethics, Etiquette and Protocol, told on Monday, December 23, how not to make a mistake with the choice of gift.
"We can safely give what he talked about. If we know nothing about a person's desires, we have a list of unmistakable gifts in etiquette. It includes books in a good binding, beautifully decorated sweets, champagne, items of painting, silverware, porcelain, jewelry," she said in conversation with "Abzac".
Kholgova also specified that it is possible to present some closet item to close people, but etiquette prohibits presenting too expensive presents.
"There should be some more or less democratic gift. This restriction is due to the fact that there are a lot of people we gift on the occasion of the New Year. Accordingly, in order not to go broke, etiquette prohibits giving expensive gifts," the expert concluded.
Earlier in the day "Izvestia" wrote with reference to the study of the international logistics operator SDEK, that the largest number of respondents prefer to organize and deliver New Year's gifts: 66% cope with this on their own, 9% entrust this task to their parents, and 8% - to their partner.
According to the analysts' research, the majority of Russians surveyed start preparing for the holidays in advance: 40% - 2-3 weeks before the event, and 30% - 1-2 months in advance. Nevertheless, every fifth person postpones New Year's shopping until the last week, with 9% making decisions in the last days, right up to December 31.
Experts noted that 62% of respondents have never ordered gift delivery after December 29, while 23% have done it only once or twice. Among those who place orders late, only 4% admit to doing so annually. Although preparations for the holidays are in full swing, delivery of Christmas trees and decorations remains an infrequent phenomenon: 78% of Russians have never used such a service, and 12% resorted to it only once on special occasions.
In turn, pediatrician "SM-Clinica" for children Olga Tatarkina told about dangerous New Year's gifts for a child. The expert noted that magnetic constructors pose a serious threat to children, RT reports.
Earlier, on December 17, Sergei Martynov, psychotherapist, founder of the International Institute of Psychosomatic Health, teacher of the course "CPT", told Izvestia about how to set goals for the New Year. According to him, you should make a revision of your goals: whether the goals set a year ago are really important for you now and whether you should continue to strive for them. Periodically, you should filter them in order to prioritize what is really important and sacrifice what is losing its importance.
