The Sovfed explained the lack of momentum for a meeting between Putin and Trump

Newly elected US President Donald Trump does not yet have any concrete proposals for ending the Ukrainian conflict, which he can present to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This opinion was voiced by the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov, on Monday, December 23.
He noted that Trump's inauguration is just under a month away, a period long enough.
"I think Trump has not yet decided where to go next. All these statements are of some half-hearted nature. The goal is clear - to end <conflict>. How to achieve this, I think, he does not quite understand. But our president's statements on the direct line and everywhere he has given interviews lately are very clear, very specific: we demand security guarantees from Ukraine. Not a ceasefire, not a truce, but an end to the conflict on terms that will suit the Russian Federation," the senator emphasized in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
He added that Russia is ready for compromises, but the compromises should not be to the detriment of the country's national interests.
According to Dzhabarov, as soon as there is information about the preparation of negotiations between the heads of Russia and the United States, the Kremlin press service will inform about it.
Earlier, on December 22, Trump said during the Turning Point USA conference in Arizona that he is waiting for a meeting with Vladimir Putin to discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, according to the website kp.ru.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 23 that there are no prerequisites for organizing a meeting between Putin and Trump yet, 360.ru reported.
