Macron has approved a new French government


French President Emmanuel Macron approved the country's new government, Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot and Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu retained their posts. The list was read out on December 23 by Alexis Kohler, secretary general of the Elysee Palace.
According to the TV channel BFMTV, for Bruno Retayo it was also decided to retain the Interior Ministry. It is noted that the new French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou wished to meet with him in the first place, while Lecornu and Barrot the Prime Minister wanted to change. However, defense and diplomatic ministers in France are traditionally selected by the president.
Among the changes in the composition of the government is a new Minister of Justice - former head of the Interior Ministry Gerald Darmanen, former Prime Minister Elizabeth Born took the post of Minister of Education. Also a member of the government became a former prime minister, left-wing politician Manuel Valls - he was approved for the post of Minister of Overseas France. The head of the Ministry of Culture remained the first Arab in the French government Rashida Dati.
On December 4, the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) of France adopted a resolution of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier. 331 deputies voted in favor of the vote of no confidence. Later, on December 13, 73-year-old leader of the centrist party "Democratic Movement" Francois Bayrou was appointed the new Prime Minister of France.
In turn, Macron, during an address to the nation, said that he was not going to leave the presidency until the end of his term in 2027. He also reminded that he will not be able to run for re-election.
The founder of the party "Unconquered France" Jean-Luc Melanchon at the same time said that Macron does not understand how the parliament works. In his opinion, the French president should resign so that the people could go to the presidential election.
