Production of meat and meat products is growing in Russia

Production of meat and meat products is growing in Russia. This was reported on December 23 by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
"Production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in agricultural organizations in January - November this year amounted to 12.5 million tons, which is 3.8% more than in the same period last year. Including the growth is observed in cattle (+5.6%), pigs (5.1%), poultry (+2.4%)," the ministry said.
Such indicators also contribute to the growth of output of the meat processing industry. In particular, the production of sausage products (+2.1%), meat semi-finished products (+5.2%) and canned food (+2.4%) increased in January-October. The National Meat Association (NMA) is confident that Russia will set another record this year.
According to the head of the NMA Sergey Yushin, by the end of 2024 our country will strengthen its position as the fourth country in the world in terms of meat production. The export of products is also growing due to the expansion of the geography and nomenclature of supplies - domestic products are imported to more than 60 countries of the world.
At the same time, the increase in production and modern technologies guarantee the preservation of economic availability of the main types of meat, says Sergei Yushin. This year, the NMA expects a record consumption of meat and meat products per capita - about 83 kg per person, which is more than 2 kilograms above the level of 2023.
Earlier, on October 10, it was reported that most Russian regions have already reached or exceeded the recommended level of meat consumption. This was the result of an increase in own production by 33% since 2014, to 12 million tons, follows from the data of Rosselkhozbank.
Prior to that, on October 2, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, during a meeting with Rosselkhozbank Chairman of the Board Boris Listov, noted record growth in the production of meat and fish products, vegetable oil, sugar and grain.
