In China, a driver who ran over nearly 20 children near a school was sentenced to death

The People's Court of Changde City in China's Hunan Province has sentenced to death 39-year-old Huang Wen, who drove a car into nearly 20 students in front of a school. The punishment is carried out by the method of administering a fatal injection, the China news website China news reported on Dec. 23.

The incident took place on Nov. 19. A miscreant decided to run people over with a car in front of the entrance of Yong'an Elementary School for emotional release due to financial problems and family conflicts. As a result, 30 people were injured, 18 of whom were elementary school students.

The sentence was postponed for two years.

Earlier, on December 17, it was reported that China executed the former official Li Jianping, who misappropriated hundreds of millions of dollars. The Supreme People's Court sentenced him to death back in 2022.
