Kuban will reinforce the grouping of equipment to collect contaminated soil

Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov reported on strengthening the grouping of equipment and delivery of additional 350 thousand bags for the collection of fuel oil in the Krasnodar region. Kozlov said this in a conversation with journalists on December 23.

"The removal of the wave of stains continues. Only literally cleaned up, the next day again carries out. We should be well aware of the properties of fuel oil, its behavior: at certain temperatures will be formed on the water surface such [spots] like jellyfish, which are below the zero water level," - said Kozlov.

According to him, it was decided to send additional equipment to the site: dump trucks and loaders. They will start working on December 24. Also 350 thousand bags with a layer for collecting fuel oil will be delivered to the place, they will be enough for about 8-9 days. The manufacturer will be instructed to ensure uninterrupted supply.

On the same day it became known that more than 12 thousand tons of contaminated soil will be utilized in the farm Bely in Temryuksky district of Krasnodar Krai. A temporary transshipment site will be created in the industrial zone of Anapa, where the soil from the beaches will be brought and then taken to special enterprises. This decision was made jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Rosprirodnadzor.

On December 22, almost 40 km of coastline was cleaned of fuel oil in Krasnodar region. In the port of Anapa additionally cleaned 500 square meters of water area. In Crimea, 60.3 tons of contaminated sand and soil were collected.

On December 21, Kerch introduced a state of emergency of a municipal nature. Fuel oil from the wrecked ships reached the shores of the Kerch Peninsula - to Cape Snake and fortress Yeni-Kale.

Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" wrecked in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died.
