Demand for booking accommodation two months or more in advance of a vacation has grown 20% year-on-year. The trend suggests that travelers have become more confident in planning trips. This is stated in the result of the study of online hotel and apartment booking service "Ostrovok", the results of which "Izvestia" got acquainted with on December 25.

Specialists have identified a number of regions, accommodation in which tourists have become more likely to book in advance: Yekaterinburg - 43% increase in the number of reservations made two months before the trip, Novorossiysk - by 41%, Krasnodar - by 33%, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk - by 32%, Vladimir - by 28%, Moscow and Pskov - by 27%.

According to the service, tourists plan longer trips in advance - on average for four nights, while for spontaneous trips they make reservations for two days.

Experts also noted a link between the approach to vacation planning and the average cost per night. When booking early, travelers tend to choose better and more expensive accommodation, as these trips are often long. The average cost per night in early bookings is 5,650 rubles - 20% higher than in spontaneous travel (4.7 thousand rubles).

"The growth in demand for early booking can be attributed to several reasons. High demand for domestic destinations encourages Russians to book in advance to find the best offer in terms of price and quality while there are still plenty of available options. In addition, tourists have the opportunity to get a discount: hoteliers often give such for early booking to attract the attention of tourists and fill their facilities as soon as possible. Despite this, spontaneous trips can also be profitable - you can save on hot deals," - explained managing director of the service "Ostrovok" Daria Kochetkova.

Experts also added that early planning is mostly characteristic of tourists with children: in the reservations made more than two months before the trip, those traveling with one or more children account for almost a third of all orders (30%). Solo travelers are more likely to decide to travel in one day: such travelers make more than a third of all spontaneous bookings (35%).

Before that, on December 18, travel planning service OneTwoTrip told Izvestia about the most expensive hotel bookings made by its customers this month. The most significant amount was spent by two travelers who spent a long vacation in Dubai and paid 2,722,000 rubles for 26 days in a five-star hotel. The price included only breakfasts.
