Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a meeting on December 23 that the documents equalizing payments for fighters of the special military operation (SMO) and defenders of border areas, including those defending Kursk Region, have already been signed.

"The President [Russian President Vladimir Putin] emphasized the need to set them (defenders of border areas. - Ed.) the same payments as those received by the participants of the special military operation. The relevant documents have been prepared and signed," Mishustin noted.

According to him, it is necessary to continue to keep these and other key areas, about which Putin spoke, on special control of the government.

Earlier, on December 19, during the "Results of the Year" Putin called to check payments to fighters in Kursk region. The President pointed out that if the special operation fighters are moved to Kursk region, where the regime of counter-terrorist operation is preserved, they should receive payments in the full amount

The armed forces of Ukraine attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded Russian territory are being liquidated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
