Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev signed a joint statement, which envisages the expansion of cooperation between the two capitals.

According to Sobyanin in his Telegram channel, this document "will give a new impetus to work, deepen economic and social ties between our cities for the benefit of the residents" of the two capitals.

"Minsk and Moscow are hero-cities linked by a common centuries-old history. Our relations are becoming increasingly close. This is happening in almost all directions and sectors," Sobyanin emphasized.

The Mayor of Moscow also expressed hope that the friendship between the two capitals "will continue forever".

Earlier on Monday, Sobyanin said that the trade turnover between Moscow and Belarus has increased by almost 30%, the supply of construction materials has increased by almost 60%, and the tourist turnover has increased by almost half. According to the mayor of the Russian capital, at the meeting he had with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, they discussed the development of bilateral cooperation. "Free trade within the Union State creates favorable conditions for cooperation in many areas. Difficult realities have further united and strengthened our ties," said the mayor.
