Russians told about their preferences in preparing New Year's dishes


Russians who choose independent cooking are convinced that home-cooked meals taste better, and also point out the importance of observing family traditions. This is reported in the study "Package" from X5, which was reviewed by "Izvestia" on December 24.
According to the analysts' study, among the classic New Year's treats that Russians usually prepare on their own, the first place is occupied by Olivier salad (92%), followed by herring under a fur coat (69%) and various meat and fish dishes (71%). Respondents are least often engaged in salting fish or caviar with their own hands (28%).
In addition, when asked how the New Year's menu is usually prepared, the opinions were almost equally divided - 50% of respondents prepare all dishes by themselves, 49% order some dishes and the rest prepare them themselves, and only 1% prefer to order exclusively ready-made dishes.
Specialists noted that Russians who prefer to cook themselves are sure that home cooking tastes better (75%). Among the reasons also stand out the observance of family traditions (62%) and saving money (31%). Those who choose to order food with delivery do it for convenience and to save time (68%) or to enjoy something new and unusual (60%).
According to experts, the following dishes are the most common on the holiday table of Russians: desserts (74%), seafood (62%), meat products (56%), appetizers (42%), and salads (36%).
When organizing a festive table, survey participants use various ways to save money: 55% of respondents activate loyalty programs and cashback services, 48% follow seasonal discounts, and 40% buy goods with a long shelf life in advance. Only 15% of respondents noted that they do not resort to any methods of getting savings in preparation.
Earlier, on November 24, Natalia Kharchenko, candidate of medical sciences, gastroenterologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), told Izvestia about the most harmful New Year's dishes. According to her, olivier salads, mimosa, herring under fur coat contain too much fat and salt, and meat and cheese cuts are rich in preservatives, dyes and flavor enhancers.
