Four captured WFU fighters to be tried on charges of terrorist attacks near Kursk

The 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow has been sent a criminal case against captured soldiers of the armed formations of Ukraine (AFU), who are accused of committing terrorist acts in Kursk Region. This was reported in the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation on December 23.

The defendants in the case are Pavel Oleksyuk, Sergei Gorbachenko, Yuri Andreichenko and Grigory Lyashenko, who were part of the 64th separate rifle battalion of the 44th separate mechanized brigade of the AFU. They are charged under paragraphs "a", "c" of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group, resulting in significant property damage").

It has been established that in August of this year military men of the VFU with the use of explosive devices illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation. They had with them automatic small arms and large-caliber firearms.

In the village of Snagost, Korenevsky district, Kursk region, they were engaged in intimidating and frightening civilians. Threatening to use weapons, the military occupied private houses, obstructed the movement of civilians, and shot at civilians and servicemen.

The court took the captured Ukrainian fighters into custody.

Earlier, on December 12, a resident of Kursk region was sentenced to 22 years in prison in the case of state treason and committing a terrorist act. He was also appointed a fine of 400 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for two years. It is established that from November 2023 to February 2024 he collected and transferred to the Security Service of Ukraine data on transport infrastructure facilities to the detriment of Russian security. In addition, the man detonated a pyrotechnic device in front of the public reception of a political party in the city, and as part of an organized group committed an act of terrorism - arson in the branch of a charitable organization in Kursk.
