Eight more participants in the riots at Makhachkala airport convicted in Kuban

In Krasnodar region announced the third verdict against the participants of mass riots at the international airport of Makhachkala, as a result, eight people were sentenced to seven to eight years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. This was reported on December 23 in the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar region.

"Ust-Labinsk district court announced the verdict against Adil Abdullaev, Budun Budunov, Gamzat Gamzatov, Kurban Ibragimov, Magomed Irbeinov, Hasan -Gusein Magomedov, Magomed Omolaev and Mukhomadrasul Shahbaev. All of them were found guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 263.1 and Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the report says.

It is noted that the sentence has not yet entered into legal force.

December 11, Alexandrovsky district court of Stavropol region sentenced seven more participants of the riots at Makhachkala airport to terms of eight to nine years. Before that, on August 23, five rioters were sentenced to terms of up to nine years.

Theriots at Makhachkala airport began in the evening of October 29 last year. The participants came with anti-Israeli posters and chanted slogans in support of Palestine. At one point, part of the crowd broke down the entrance doors and broke into the terminal building of the air harbor.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting about the incident on October 30, 2023. The head of state also pointed out that behind the events was the intention to rock the country from within. In turn, the head of the republic Sergei Melikov appealed to residents with a request not to let enemies and provocateurs manipulate themselves and sway the situation in the region.

On July 9, 2024, Dagestan Interior Minister Abdurashid Magomedov said that 140 people are in custody in the case of riots. In addition, according to him, more than 1.2 thousand participants of the incident were brought to administrative responsibility.
