A case has been opened over an explosion on the territory of a former factory in Abakan

In Abakan, after an explosion on the territory of the former experimental mechanical plant during construction work, a criminal case for failure to comply with safety rules was initiated. This was reported on December 23 in the press service of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk region and Khakassia.

"A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of death of two and injury of several men aged from 28 years to 51 years in connection with a gas slam on the territory of OJSC "Abakanskiy experimental-mechanical plant" (part 3 of article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)", - noted in the press service.

According to the investigation, on December 23, employees of LLC "Corporation Lesmash" carried out gas welding work in the rented shop of the plant. During the welding of a water tank, there was a clap, as a result of which two men died and several other employees were injured. The victims were hospitalized.

Investigators and criminalists of the Investigative Committee are working at the scene. The circumstances of the case of the incident are being clarified.

On the same day, December 23, Deputy Head of the Republic of Khakassia Yuri Kurlaev said that four victims of the explosion at the former experimental mechanical plant in Abakan were in serious condition. He added that he went to the site of the explosion on the instructions of the head of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov. The situation is under control.

About the explosion at the former factory in Abakan Konovalov reported earlier in the day. He noted that the emergency occurred due to safety violations. The head of the republic said that investigators and law enforcement agencies are establishing the circumstances of the explosion, and the families of the victims will be assisted.
