A doctor has named the only effective method of treating varicose veins

The most effective, innovative and safe method of varicose veins treatment is endovasal laser coagulation. This was reported to Gazeta.Ru on December 23 by Dina Bestaeva, a phlebologist of the Fomin Clinic chain of clinics.

According to the doctor, the changes occurring in varicose veins are irreversible. Such conservative methods of treatment as ointments, pills and compression products are able to eliminate or weaken the symptomatology of varicose veins.

"But it can only be cured by surgery. Any surgery is aimed at eliminating diseased, non-functioning veins. To date, the most innovative, safe and effective method of treating varicose veins is endovasal laser coagulation," the doctor stated.

Bestaeva also explained the essence of the procedure. It consists in obliteration (flattening) of veins by transferring laser energy directly to the venous wall. The fibrous layer formed as a result of the operation eventually resorbs and disappears forever, she specified.

The specialist added that varicose veins are a disease caused by weakness of the venous wall, passed on from generation to generation. In addition, there are a number of provoking factors: female gender, lifestyle, overweight, as well as taking hormonal drugs.

Earlier, on December 18, a phlebologist, vascular surgeon INVITRO North-West Konstantin Budanov told "Izvestia" about the difference between varicose veins and thrombosis. He noted that varicosis is a disease in which the walls of veins are thinning, which leads to chaotic distribution of blood through the vessels, and thrombosis is an inflammatory disease in which the vessels are clogged with blood clots.
