Tokayev also instructed to closely monitor the situation with the passage of the heating season and the conduct of projects to modernize the energy infrastructure.

Earlier, on November 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the discussion of the creation of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan within the framework of negotiations in Astana. Putin emphasized that cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in this direction is possible, noting that the final decision always rests with the customer.

Before that, on August 5, Kazakh Deputy Energy Minister Zhandos Nurmaganbetov said that the country also thought about building a second nuclear power plant on the Irtysh River near the city of Kurchatov. He said that if Kazakhstan really takes the path of carbon neutrality, it simply has no other choice but to build several plants.
