The incumbent president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Sergei Syrankov, have been registered as candidates for the upcoming election of the head of state. This was reported by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Telegram on December 23.

To participate in the election, a candidate had to collect at least 100 thousand signatures of voters, as well as submit a written statement of consent to run to the CEC. In addition, it was necessary to provide biographical data.

The election of the head of state will be held on January 26, 2025.

Earlier, December 17, the CEC accepted the documents for registration of incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko for the election of the head of state.

December 11, chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak filed documents for registration as a candidate for president of Belarus.
