The expert told about the disadvantages of floor tiles

Tile's durability, functionality and visual appeal are obvious, especially in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms and kitchens. Nevertheless, tiles are increasingly used in corridors, living rooms and other rooms, which raises questions about the appropriateness of this choice. Fyodor Vasiliev, a construction expert and general director of the company "GLASNAB", told Izvestia on December 24 about the disadvantages of tile in the interior.

"Ceramic tile significantly increases the impact noise, so in places where it is provided for by default (in the kitchen, bathroom, etc.) the builder, as a rule, makes additional noise insulation. If you put tiles in places where there is no such noise insulation, you risk ruining relations with your downstairs neighbors, as they will clearly hear your every movement," Vasiliev explained.

According to him, a significant disadvantage of tiles are excessive seams, which wear out faster than a solid floor covering. In addition, over time, even with good care, scratches and chips appear on the tiles, especially in the areas of seams and corners. Contamination, especially in porous materials, can be difficult to remove.

According to a specialist, tile has a high thermal conductivity. Walking barefoot on such a floor, especially in winter, can be uncomfortable and even unhealthy. The system "warm floor" is not a universal solution and requires additional investments, and also does not always effectively cope with the task. Falling on tiles can cause serious injuries, especially for children and the elderly.

"Tile has many advantages, its application in all rooms of the apartment requires a balanced approach. It is necessary to take into account not only aesthetic, but also practical aspects, as well as to take into account the peculiarities of lifestyle and preferences of all tenants", - summarized Vasiliev.

According to him, the water warm floor provides a more even heating of the room and creates a comfortable microclimate even in the cold season.
