People died in an explosion on the territory of a former factory in Abakan

An explosion occurred at the former experimental mechanical plant in Abakan, as a result there are dead and injured. This was reported by the head of the Republic of Khakassia Valentin Konovalov on Monday, December 23.

"Today on the territory of the former Abakan experimental-mechanical plant there was a tragedy. As a result of the explosion, which occurred due to safety violations, people were injured and killed. Rescuers and law enforcement officers are now establishing the circumstances of what happened," he wrote on his page in the social network "VKontakte".

The head of the republic expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured. He promised that the government of Khakassia will provide all the necessary assistance to the families and friends of these people.

At the moment the situation at the site of the tragedy is controlled by the deputy head of the region Yuri Kurlaev on Konovalov's instructions.

According to the Izvestia source, the explosion occurred in the morning, presumably during welding work. According to preliminary data, two people were killed, four were injured.

Earlier, on December 9, a production building caught fire and partially collapsed in Pushkino near Moscow. It was reported that the cause could be an explosion. The fire was localized on the area of 7 square meters. m. 24 specialists and seven units of equipment were engaged in extinguishing. Later, the bodies of dead men and a woman were removed from under the rubble. A criminal case was opened for violation of industrial safety requirements.
