At the end of November 2024, the average size of a car loan in Russia amounted to 1.33 million rubles, which is 4.4% less than in October. This result was the lowest since the beginning of this year, the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI) reported on December 23. Compared with November last year, the average size of an auto loan decreased by 11%.

The highest average size of an auto loan in Russia was in Moscow (Br1.79 million), Moscow region (Br1.64 million), St. Petersburg (Br1.59 million), Leningrad region (Br1.51 million) and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District (Br1.46 million).

The highest rates of decrease in this indicator were recorded in Moscow, Belgorod and Ulyanovsk Regions, as well as in the Republic of Crimea and Chelyabinsk Region. Only in the Chuvash Republic the average check for the month did not decrease.

As the marketing director of NBKI Alexei Volkov noted, the average size of an auto loan is decreasing for the fourth month in a row.

On December 17, AvtoVAZ proposed to change the state program of preferential car loans and to issue discount certificates instead of loans. This idea was proposed by AvtoVAZ Vice President for External Relations and Shareholder Relations Sergei Gromak.

Before that, on December 4, the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov said that the increase in the key rate and tightening of lending standards made car loans for Russians almost unaffordable.
