The crew of an Army aviation Mi-35M helicopter, being part of a mixed tactical group, struck a missile attack on personnel and a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 23.

"In the course of the combat mission to support the units of the North group, the pilots of the army aviation performed missile launches according to the coordinates of the aviation spotter and destroyed the stronghold and personnel of the AFU," the ministry said in a statement.

After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with the firing of heat traps that prevent enemy man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) missiles. The advanced aircraft gunner confirmed the destruction of the target, the Ministry of Defense pointed out.

On the eve of the Ministry of Defense reported that the crews of the army aviation on Ka-52M helicopters disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
