Temperatures above the climatic norm are expected in most regions of Russia this week. This was reported by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand on December 23.

"The warmest weather is in the Asian part of the country, in Krasnoyarsk Krai the temperature is 8-9 degrees above the norm, in the Far East still not such big anomalies - 6-8 degrees above the norm," he noted in a conversation with TASS.

Vilfand added that moderately warm weather is also expected in the south of the European part of Russia. Thus, in the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts a positive temperature background is forecasted during the day and at night. In addition, in the south of the Central Federal District - in the Tambov and Lipetsk regions - snow will fall.

According to Wilfand, such weather is due to the fact that the Atlantic Ocean transfers its heat for a long time. However, he added that the Mongolian anticyclone is slowly looming over the country.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Vilfand predicted severe frosts in the regions of Western Siberia and the Far East. He noted that at night the temperature may drop to -30...-35 degrees Celsius in Western Siberia, and in some regions of the Far East it may get as cold as -45 degrees Celsius.
