Vilfand predicted severe frosts in two Russian districts

In two districts of Russia night temperature may be below -30 degrees Celsius. This was reported on December 23 by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.

According to him, the night temperature may drop to -30...-35 degrees Celsius in the regions of Western Siberia. At the same time, in some regions of the Far East, for example in Chukotka, it may get colder to -45 degrees.

"Next week winter weather returns to Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo regions, at night the temperature will drop to -30 degrees, a good frost. And one more region, where the weather is really cold, 4-6 degrees below the norm, is the south of Khabarovsk Krai, there are up to 35 degrees of frost, in the Amur region - even up to 39 degrees," Vilfand said in a conversation with TASS.

He added that such low temperatures are due to the fact that there is an intrusion of cold air masses in the rear of the anticyclone, located between the Asian part of the country and North America.

Earlier, December 3, Vilfand said that winter in Russia promises to be variable and heterogeneous. According to him, despite possible severe frosts, mild weather will prevail. The forecaster noted that in Siberia, especially in the northern part, the winter temperature will be 5-10 degrees above normal.
