Putin participated in the opening of new infrastructure facilities via video link

On December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a video link ceremony for the opening of air and road infrastructure facilities in Russian regions. The corresponding information was published on the Kremlin website.
"Today is a day off, Sunday, but we have gathered nevertheless to give a start to the work of a number of new air and highway infrastructure facilities in Russia. A celebratory event, you might say. And this is yet another evidence that the development of the transportation framework of the country, our regions, is going on consistently and continuously," Putin said, opening the event.
He noted the good pace of development of Russia's road network and key highways and cited the example of the modern section of the M-12 highway from Moscow to Kazan, which was commissioned last year. According to him, the highway has already been used by more than 26 mln motorists and more than 70 mln tons of cargo have been transported.
During the event, Putin opened traffic on the A-289 Krasnodar - Slavyansk-on-Kuban - Temryuk - A-290 Novorossiysk - Kerch highway, commissioned bypasses of the village of Malye Vyazemy on the Central Ring Road in the Moscow region, Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny and five settlements in Bashkiria.
Putin also took part in the opening of international airports in Magadan (Sokol), Cheboksary and Stavropol (Shpakovskoye).
Earlier, on December 12, the Russian government approved a plan for the construction of new federal toll roads until 2030. The total amount of funds for the facilities will increase by 20% - from 877 billion to 1.052 trillion rubles.
Prior to that, on December 5, Putin called the improvement in the condition of roads one of the most notable results that Russians believe have been achieved during the implementation of national projects.
