Almost 40 km of coastline in Krasnodar region cleared after tanker accident

After the accident with tankers in the Krasnodar region, more than 39.7 km of coastline was cleared of oil products. This was reported on Sunday, December 22, in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"In the Krasnodar region collected 17 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil, cleaned more than 39.7 km of coastline", - stated in the message of the Department in Telegram-channel.

In the port of Anapa additional cleaning of 500 square meters of water area was carried out. Monitoring of the coast has been extended to the village of Myskhako in Novorossiysk. 10 thousand people and 366 units of equipment are involved in the work.

In Crimea 60.3 tons of polluted sand and soil have been collected, 50.6 tons have been removed. Minor oil stains were found on eight sites in Leninsky district and Kerch. In the elimination involved 412 people, 37 units of equipment and four watercraft.

The day before it was reported that in Kerch after the accident with tankers in the Black Sea introduced emergency mode of municipal character. It was specified that fuel oil reached the shores of the Kerch Peninsula: Cape Snake and fortress Yeni-Kale. At the same time it became known that 54 km of the Black Sea coastline in the Krasnodar region should be cleaned from fuel oil pollution.

Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, created a working group to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait.
