On December 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of three airports in Russian regions via videoconference. We are talking about terminals in Magadan, Cheboksary and Stavropol.

"Last year there were somewhere around 105 million passengers transported, this year it will be 111, most likely. But overall the indicator is good, of course. In this regard, airports, of course, play one of the key roles," Putin said. His words are quoted by the Kremlin press service.

The head of state called the development of infrastructure the most important area of work in the coming years.

The airport named after V. Vysotsky in Magadan was enlarged. Now the air harbor is able to serve medium and large capacity aircraft. It is designed to receive 800 passengers per hour and up to 1 million per year. The reconstruction of the airfield infrastructure continues at the airport.

Also, as a result of modernization and renovation, the area of Stavropol (Shpakovskoye) International Airport named after A.V. Suvorov was increased. Its throughput capacity increased from 300 to 400 passengers per hour, and it will be able to serve up to 580,000 people per year.

The capacity of the Cheboksary International Airport doubled from 100 to 200 passengers per hour as a result of reconstruction. At the moment, the possibility of overhauling the airfield in the period of 2025-2026 is being considered.

Earlier in the day, the head of state said that in the next six years in the country will be modernized at least 75 airports, 250 billion rubles will be allocated for this purpose. Also on December 22, Putin gave a start to the work of several regional roads.

On October 9, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with Aeroflot CEO Sergei Alexandrovsky that air transportation in Russia is growing vigorously, in many ways faster than expected. At the same time, he pointed out that Russia's priority is the development of domestic transportation, primarily for tourist travel within the country.
